Gina Brewer

Gina Brewer begins her first season with the University of Hawai`i soccer program, joining the Rainbow Wahine in June 2008. Brewer will be involved in all aspects of the program, including practice and game-day preparation, scouting and recruiting.
Brewer is a familiar face having coached in the WAC for a combined four seasons prior to arriving at UH. She started as a graduate assistant at Idaho in 2003 and spent three seasons in Moscow, including a period when she served as the interim head coach. In 2006 she joined the staff at Utah State where she was involved in all areas of the program, including training the goalkeepers. During her one season there she led the Aggies to a second-place WAC finish with a 5-2 record, which included a 2-1 upset over the Rainbow Wahine in Honolulu.

Brewer holds extensive experience at the club and state levels, as well as a recent stint overseas. Her most recent stop was in Idaho, where she coached a pair of teams for the Boise Capitals Soccer Club this past spring. In December 2007, Brewer returned from Australia, where she played for and was also an assistant coach for the East Brisbane Soccer Club. She has also served on the staffs of Olympic Development Program teams in Idaho and Washington in recent years.

As a player, Brewer enjoyed a successful four-year career at the University of Washington (1998-2001). As a striker, she helped the Huskies qualify for the NCAA Tournament in three of her four seasons, including a stellar 2000 campaign. During that season, Washington was ranked a high as second nationally as the team won the Pac-10 championship and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Brewer holds an NSCAA regional diploma and national goalkeeping license and a U.S. Soccer Federation "C" coaching license.

A native of Auburn, Wash., Brewer received her bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in communications from Washington in 2002. She also earned a master's in physical education with a minor in health from Idaho in 2005.
